Febi – 2 year old female Hound cross Pocket Pointer

Febi is looking for a special home…. do you have time, patience, love and a kind resident dog(s) to help Febi learn how to live her best life?

Febi is a 2.5 years old small-medium female hound/pocket pointer (~12kgs).

She was kicked out of her home in Cyprus and kept trying to return, but they kicked her everytime she tried to go home.

Eventually she was trapped by rescuers and brought to the shelter but had lost trust and faith in humans. She was in the shelter for about a year and as hard as the volunteers worked to build her trust, it wasn’t the right environment for her to drop her guard.

She is now in foster in Oxfordshire, UK where she has made a huge improvement over the last 3 months. Having not been touched for 12 months, she now enjoys fussies (not full cuddles) on her terms, she snuggles up on the sofa and plays with toys and the other dogs. She loves to play!

Whilst she has gained her confidence within the home and garden, Febi is still a nervous girl and is very wary of the harness and lead. She has not yet been out on a walk, although she is very interested when the resident dogs leave and it feels like she’s building up to giving it a go.

But even then, leaving the gate and learning to walk on a lead and a road and into a whole new world will be a challenge. Febi is house trained although does still have the odd accident when nervous.

Febi is looking for the following special home:

  • A home with a lovely big garden where she can run and play, without the pressure to go for walks to keep fit.
  • At least one resident dog to give her confidence and to play with. She lives with 3 other dogs at the moment and gets a lot of reassurance and play time from them.
  • Someone who is at home most of the time and would be able to leave her with a house sitter for holidays. Febi can now be left for up to 3 hours with her friends but benefits from having someone at home most of the time.
  • An adult only home or one with grown up children. She finds the fast and unpredictable nature of children difficult to process. She lives happily with a 15 year old boy but retreats to her crate when he’s being particularly loud or active.

Febi also lives happily with 4 dog-confident cats and is more likely to run away from them than chase them!

Are you an extra special someone who can cope with a dog that can’t yet leave the house? Are you someone who has the patience to build a trusted relationship with Febi over time, at her pace?

She is such a loving dog and in another 6 months she will be such a different girl – she just needs time and love to blossom and learn that life can be wonderful. Have you got the perfect home to help her on her journey to a happier life?

  • I must live with at least one other dog
  • I can live with cats
  • I would prefer an adult only home
  • I need a large, private secure garden to run in.
  • I’m fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.
