Amaia is a 9 month old female Cross-Breed. Amaia is a medium sized stunning blonde shaggy type girl. She is a gorgeous puppy, very quiet and gentle and timid. She has one blue eye and one brown and is a very pretty girl. Amaia lives with a cat at the moment and she walks well on the lead. She is good with dogs also but timid when anyone comes to visit. Her new owners will be well rewarded to watch her make progress every day and start loving life. This poor girl was saved from a busy road and she was traumatized and very frightened. She has settled down into a foster home now and is gradually coming out of her shell now that she trusts people and is learning new experiences.
We think she was treated very badly but it is so rewarding to see her improve and trust humans again. We need a quiet home without children where she can continue to enjoy life again and experience love and respect and we think she will need the confidence of another dog. Current location is in a foster home in Spain can travel to the UK once she has a home to go to.
Fosterers report: Well she is with me now, she is very very timid – but I think in four weeks I can gain her confidence and help her. But of course she may need this time all over again when she is in a new home. I think she is a small wire-haired griffon pointer cross; She is smaller than I thought and very pretty and she will stand and ‘point’, although I do not think she is a hunter as she shows no interest in my cats at all. She is living on my terrace at the moment with my Beauceron who doesn’t like to sleep indoors but I will gradually bring her in the house but she finds being confined a bit scary at the moment but I know I can make a big change. We know that her bloods are all negative to Mediterranean diseases and she is in good health.
UPDATE ON AMAIA: She now sleeps soundly in a dog bed beside my bed, she does not stir until about 7.00 in the morning when she asks to go out. She is clean in the house, likes cuddles (but mostly from me or other women) she is still scared of men – obviously been very badly treated by them. She is not easy to catch when she is in the garden, but she follows my dogs everywhere and when they come in for food so does she. I am going to start taking her out with me on a harness and will let you know the progress. I want to get her used to travelling, crates and more importantly people. She is vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, spayed, microchipped and has a Pet Passport. Adoption fee is £ 275 – to be paid direct to the Spanish rescue to cover travel costs.
