Layla is a 5 year old female Pointer cross. Layla has a very tragic start to her story. She was found abandoned on the streets of southern Spain at just a year old with her six puppies. Sadly they had all passed away but she was still trying to take care of them. She was taken to a council pound where she nursed back to help as was emaciated and had a horrible skin condition. Unbelievably, Layla was sadly overlooked for years. She was finally rehomed with another dog, to a lady in the UK but she did not get on with her companion. Layla arrived at our kennels in June 2015.

Layla is a gorgeous little lady, she is so sweet natured! She does love to play with some other dogs, but can be a bit growly if they are too boisterous and playful. She much prefers the company of people and will roll over for a tummy rub! Layla is fun-loving and playful, but mainly lives for cuddles and affection! She is very food orientated and we are confident that she will be a very quick learner! She already knows how to sit and is very eager to please.

She will benefit from sensitive training using positive methods only. She is always clean in her kennel and really enjoys chew toys. Due to Layla’s history in her previous home, we feel that she’d prefer her own space and would be better as an only dog, and with no young children. There is no reason why she can’t socialise when under supervision with dogs after slow and careful introductions, but she is protective over her space.

Layla has been through so much and has been waiting far too long for her forever home. She will need a special owner where she can have lots of attention and exercise. She would be the ideal companion for an older couple as she doesn’t pull on her lead and is very gentle. She would love a home where she can get all the affection and attention she deserves, and where she can be adored! Layla is not cat tested.
