Roy – 2 year old male Pointer Cross

Roy is a 2 year old pointer cross boy who was brought into the shelter as a stray in July 2024. He is always looking out from his kennel waiting for human attention, relishing it when he is lucky enough to get some – he has the softest coat.

He has happily shared his kennel with many other dogs – seeing many come and go. When you meet him, he looks you right in the eyes as if to say please take me home. Or please help me find a home.

It’s not clear whether Roy was in a home before, but his affinity for people suggests that maybe he did. Or maybe he was a hunting dog that was no longer needed – which is also a possibility as he was very thin when he arrived at the shelter.

He has now put on some weight and is more than ready for his forever home.

Unfortunately for Roy, he is leishmania positive, meaning he continually overlooked. Please don’t let this disease define him.

It is easily managed with cheap tablets, doesn’t affect how long he will live, doesn’t affect insurance premiums, and cannot be transmitted to other pets or humans.

Many dogs live long and happy lives with leishmania. Roy is otherwise a healthy boy.

We just hope someone sees how wonderful he is regardless of leishmania because he will be the most awesome pet, loyal, loving and the best friend and companion anyone could wish for.

Roy can fly to the UK as soon as a home is offered.
