Lassie is a stunning 18 month old female Pointer Cross who was unwanted by her previous family. They admitted to abandoning her in a local village in the hope someone would find her and keep her, but poor Lassie navigated her way right back home again, confused and not understanding why she’d been left behind. Thankfully they decided this time not to dump her again, but to ask for help from a local shelter.

Although it’s upsetting that Lassie was given up so easily by a family who she clearly adored, it’s a common story in Cyprus and stems from a lack of education and understanding around pet ownership and the needs of high energy dogs. People often taken on dogs as a novelty with no awareness of breed specific traits or needs, and then can’t give the dog the lifestyle they require.
We’re pretty sure this was the case with Lassie’s family. We can only hope that now she’s looking for a new home, this will be her big break and we can find her the perfect match.

Lassie is a very human oriented dog. She adores people and she would love a family household, with lots of people to give her love and attention, play with her and involve her in their activities. She is quite submissive around other dogs and often this makes her an easy target to be bullied, so she looks to humans for reassurance and company when she’s feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Lassie would thrive in a semi-rural home with a garden, and she would really enjoy an active lifestyle. Being a Pointer mix she has a lot of energy and loves to follow scents, so she would have a great time exploring nature.
She absolutely loves to be cuddled, stroked and have her tummy rubbed, and you can guarantee she will be happy as long as she’s close to you. She really does adore human interaction.

Lassie has not been tested with cats and is unlikely to fare well with them based on her breed. She is getting better on the lead, and being an adolescent dog she’s likely to crack house training quickly.
She can live with children (5+) and she can also live with other dogs as long as their personalities will complement one another. She would also be happy in a home as the only dog so that’s not a deal breaker.
If you think you can give Lassie the active home she would blossom in please get in touch.
